Misty's kittens born 13.06.2009 and Holly's kittens born 21.06.2009
On 13th June, Misty gave birth to 7 kittens. She and Holly had been inseparable for a fortnight and Holly proved to be an excellent midwife. As cats often work in pairs if they are both pregnant, we didn't interfere and Holly began to feed Misty's kittens the day after they were born, even though she was heavily pregnant. Misty was quite happy to take the occasional break and leave her babies with Holly.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, 21st June, Holly gave birth to 7 kittens of her own - 6 black and whites (with the distinctive white flash up the face, white feet and white bib), and one silver and white tabby. As you can see from the photo - they feed their kittens together. It is amazing to watch two animals work together like this and the next few weeks will be very interesting.
The kittens are now 9 weeks and 8 weeks old respectively. The are eating solid food and litter training is going well. Nine kittens are already reserved and will be ready to leave us mid September. In the meantime, they are having a wonderful time chasing each other up and downstairs.
The picture below is of Bono, our wonderful Black Smoke, with our black smoke kitten. He is a truly beautiful kitten, and has a very gentle, loving personality. When he went to the vet for his first vaccinations, he was so tired on his return that he fell asleep in his tray - and the photo below shows how he looked before he had a bath!
It's now October, and several of the kittens have settled into their new homes. Greebo is living with Sarah and her family in Bradford. Baloo has left us to live with the Ellaby family in Blubberhouses, Bobby Dazzler has gone to live with Kai and Digby in Elland, and Odin and Yasmin are now settled into their new lives in Pembrokeshire with Dawn and Dave. Aulis is living in Saltaire with Katja and Adam, and Wizzy is in Beverley with Guy and Joel. Felix has travelled the furthest, to Burgess Hill, where he is living with his new friend Oliver. We hope they bring as much joy and happiness to their new owners as they have brought to us.
